16 Oct Why Microsoft Azure is the way forward
There is much talk in the tech and general media about how cloud computing is helping businesses stay productive – and actually stay in business – during these unpredictable times, resulting from the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
A recent article published by ComputerWeekly reports on a survey, which identified that “the coronavirus pandemic has contributed to an acceleration of cloud adoption, as enterprises embrace remote working”. The survey also highlights that 82% of those surveyed have “ramped up their use of cloud in direct response to the shift to remote working”.
On the surface, cloud computing appears complex and suitable only for those with deep technical knowledge. Whilst that belief may have been true a decade ago, now, cloud computing is simpler to understand and easier to implement for SMBs (small and mid-size businesses). Microsoft offers an excellent introductory definition, for anyone fairly new to cloud:
“Simply put, cloud computing is the delivery of computing services – including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics and intelligence – over the internet to offer faster innovation, flexible resources and economies of scale.”
The true beauty of cloud is that, typically, you only pay for the amount of a service that you actually use. This flexibility helps businesses lower operating costs, run more efficiently and scale up or down depending on requirements.
There are various quality cloud platforms on the market, but we believe that Microsoft’s industry-leading public cloud platform, Azure, is the way for SMBs to go with their technology requirements.
Azure offers a continually expanding and evolving set of cloud services. As a solution, Azure enables businesses to build, manage, and deploy applications utilising artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Azure supports a broad range of frameworks, operating systems, programming languages, devices and databases – its flexibility is second to none.
Azure supports full and hybrid-based cloud computing and enables businesses to move to Azure on an IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service), SaaS (Software-as-a-service) and a PaaS (Platform-as-a-service) basis.
Another major benefit of cloud is that it is scalable. And of course, you’re paying only for what you need which means you’re not wasting money.
Microsoft also delivers “security from the ground up” through Azure, which is their multi-layered approach to securing solutions and one of the most comprehensive offerings in the industry. In today’s volatile environment, with the increasing volume and sophistication of cyberattacks, businesses should be prioritising security and using only the most secure cloud products.
The recent backtrack on the government’s drive for a ‘return to the office’ following the upsurge in Covid-19 cases, means that businesses will need to continue to enable safe, secure working for their employees. But, by putting your IT into the cloud and Azure, you’re not only supporting remote working – you’re moving your business into the future of IT.
Ninety five percent of Fortune 500 companies have solutions and services in Azure (if the world’s most successful organisations have such confidence in the platform, that’s a great recommendation)
So, it’s time to compete with the best, and let us show you how Microsoft Azure could help your business in today’s hyper-competitive and challenging environment.
